Restoration marketing
How independent restoration businesses can build local visibility, earn trust and turn inquiries into booked work

People searching for restoration help may use terms such as “water damage restoration near me” or “emergency water damage repair.” For local owners, being visible in search is one part of the job: customers also compare providers, reviews, credentials and websites.
Marketing costs and results vary by location, service and campaign. Google’s local results use relevance, distance and prominence, while Local Services Ads charge for valid leads under location and job-specific conditions. Track inquiries, qualified calls and booked jobs separately so you can understand what marketing is producing.

Market realities
Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence. Complete profile information supports relevance; links, review count and positive ratings can contribute to prominence. Google says businesses cannot request or pay for a higher organic local ranking.
Google Business Profile is free on Search and Maps. Service-area businesses that travel to customers should hide their address when customers are not served there. Google says virtual offices without staff during business hours are ineligible.
Google lists water damage services as an eligible U.S. category. Advertisers need a public, verified Business Profile, and screening may cover identity, background, registration, insurance and licenses. Water damage screening also lists IICRC certification; some states may require additional mold licenses.
Google says Local Services Ads charge for valid leads and that prices vary by location, job type, lead type and bidding mode. It does not publish a fixed national water damage lead price. A vendor estimator reported a $141.64 average charged lead across nine water damage restoration client campaigns over the three months preceding its September 2026 update; that is a small vendor sample, not a national job acquisition cost.
In a 2024 home services study, HIRI reported that 60% used referrals or word of mouth, 34% used search engines or reviews, and 24% used provider websites. Separately, Tinuiti found that 86% of surveyed U.S. homeowners started an active home services provider search online; these are broader home services findings, not restoration-specific channel shares.
Tinuiti’s 2024 homeowner survey found that more than half named licensing and insurance among their top three provider qualities, followed by price and online reviews. BrightLocal’s 2026 local consumer survey reported that 97% of U.S. adults used reviews to guide purchase decisions. Neither result measures restoration customers alone.
Examples include website packages, monthly SEO retainers, and ad management fees. These offers differ in included work and contract terms, and ad spend is not stated as included in the published management fees. Compare scope and limits rather than treating the listed prices as a market average.
Google says it is migrating Local Services advertisers in phases to Performance Max campaigns with pay-per-lead goals. Its stated schedule begins with select U.S. businesses in August 2026 and expands to more service-area businesses in late 2026; the schedule does not establish whether any particular restoration account has migrated.
