HVAC marketing
Build local visibility, earn trust, and make it easier for customers to book.

HVAC customers often choose a provider they have used before or one recommended by someone they trust. Online search, reviews, and service ads can also help a local contractor reach people who are comparing providers.
A practical marketing approach starts with accurate local business information and a clear path from inquiry to appointment. Search ads can generate leads, but lead costs vary, and a lead is not the same as a booked job.

Market realities
In a 2025 nationwide survey of homeowners who had recently hired an HVAC professional, 42.6% chose a provider they had used before and 26.3% used a personal recommendation. Online search accounted for 17.0% of reported choices.
A 2026 survey of U.S. adults found that 97% read reviews for local businesses and 85% said positive reviews make them more likely to use one. These findings cover local businesses generally, not HVAC customers specifically.
Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and prominence. Complete business details help with relevance, and review count and positive ratings can help local ranking. Google says businesses cannot request or pay for a better local ranking.
For a contractor who travels to customers and does not receive them at its address, Google says to hide the address and specify service areas. It allows up to 20 areas and generally expects the overall area to stay within about two hours’ driving time.
LocaliQ’s 2025 home services search campaign benchmarks reported average cost per lead of $127.74 for Air Conditioning Installation & Repair and $129.02 for Heating & Furnaces. The report does not provide an HVAC specific booked job rate or revenue per lead.
Published provider prices cover different services and scopes, and some exclude advertising spend. No reviewed source establishes a universal HVAC cost per booked job, customer acquisition cost, lead close rate, SEO return, or fixed Local Services Ads lead price.
Google says HVAC is eligible for Local Services Ads, which use pay per lead billing. Ad order depends on an auction involving the bid and profile quality; Google lists responsiveness, ratings, review count, average response time, images, and verification checks among quality signals.
