Podium is the tool most owners compare against, and it is hard to price: its own pricing page shows no figures and sends you to sales. Third-party roundups put its plans at Core $399/mo and Pro $599/mo on an annual contract, while other roundups say about $249/mo. Because sources disagree, treat any Podium number as an estimate until you have a written quote. The alternatives below differ in what they are. Birdeye, Broadly and DemandHub are reviews and messaging tools. Weave is a phone system with texting. Thryv is a small-business suite. GoHighLevel is a CRM and automation platform built mainly for agencies.
For an independent local service business, the questions that separate these products are practical. Does the vendor publish a price? How long is the contract and how do you cancel? Do you need a phone system, or only texting and reviews? Does it connect to your field-service software? Contract and cancellation terms are the most repeated complaint in reviews of Podium, Birdeye, Weave and Thryv, so we report each vendor's own stated terms next to what reviewers say.
Customer behavior is the reason this software exists. In BrightLocal's Local Consumer Review Survey 2026 (1,002 US adults), 97% read reviews for local businesses, 47% will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews, and 80% are more likely to use a business that responds to all reviews. Choose based on how much of the work you want a tool to do, how much you can spend, and how much contract risk you will accept. FlashCrafter is included as a different kind of option: a done-for-you website, CRM and local SEO service with AI agents, not a texting inbox. Its terms and claims below are FlashCrafter's own and have not been independently verified.

Method
How we compared
- 01
Published pricing: we used each vendor's own pricing page first and label third-party figures as unverified, with dates, when they conflict.
- 02
Contract and cancellation terms: we report what each vendor states and what reviewers on Trustpilot and Capterra say, because cancellation is the most repeated complaint in this category.
- 03
Independent ratings: Capterra counts come from its category page fetched October 1, 2026; Trustpilot and BBB were read directly where noted, and G2 figures come from snippets or secondary sources.
- 04
Fit for local service work: whether the product covers reviews, texting, missed calls, phone, website and listings, and whether it names field-service software such as ServiceTitan, Jobber and Housecall Pro.
- 05
Compliance exposure: business texting requires consent and A2P 10DLC registration, so we note usage fees and what each vendor says about messaging.
Verdict
No single alternative wins for every shop. If you want a published price and a short commitment, Broadly (month-to-month, from $399/mo plus $350 onboarding) and GoHighLevel (from $97/mo plus usage) state the loosest terms. If you need to replace your phone system, Weave is the clearest fit, though it is built first for healthcare. If you use ServiceTitan, Jobber or Housecall Pro, Birdeye lists the most named connections. Podium remains reasonable if you want its SMS-first inbox and field service tools and accept a quoted annual contract, but get the term, notice period and integrations in writing, especially ServiceTitan. Choose FlashCrafter if you want a done-for-you website, CRM and local SEO with exclusivity in your trade and city, and FlashCrafter's stated month-to-month terms appeal to you. Choose another vendor if you need a business phone system, a published price, independent ratings or confirmed field-service integrations, none of which FlashCrafter establishes. Whichever you pick, ask for the contract length, cancellation process and all fees before you sign.
