Someone in Carmichael who types "mediterranean restaurant near me" into Google Maps gets a short list. This study asks who ends up on that list, how they are rated, what they say about themselves online, and what a sample of their public reviewers talk about.
The measurement was taken on 2026-08-10. It observed 71 businesses in the market and ranked the 25 most visible by how often they appeared in the first three results across sampled searches. That share is called top-3 share throughout. It is not the same as being shown first. Only one business was shown first for any measured phrase.
The page then compares what five of those businesses publish on their own websites (captured 2026-10-04), what related searches show people asking, and what sampled public Google reviews say about three of the most visible restaurants (observations from 2026-08-19). It is written for owners of independent local businesses, because the pattern here, where a claimed, well-rated profile is common and visibility still varies sharply, applies well beyond restaurants.
